The Process:
Tribal Seeds is a reggae band based in San Diego, and was formed by two brothers, Tony Ray and Steven. I have been friends with Tony Ray for a few years now and he asked me to design merchandise for their upcoming tour.
During the brainstorm process I was sending multiple different mockups and logos, and they made sure to let me know to use their original logo but add a twist. What stuck with me the most during the phone calls and back-to-back messaging was, "We want it to feel genuine and show our culture."
Logos:
Agave
A simple drawing of the agave plant, inspired by its connection to Mexico and the landscape. We went through different views of the agave and this was the one we landed on and it fit perfectly.
Xoloitzcuintle
My take on the Xoloitzcuintle, a dog deeply rooted in Mexican history and culture. I wanted to bring my own interpretation to life through design while keeping its cultural significance in mind.
Final Products:
Hats & T-Shirt:
As they were getting ready for tour, I was going hard on Illustrator, drawing up a few different mockups for t-shirts and hats. I drew about 3-4 different colorways and styles. These were two styles of hats chosen and the t-shirt chosen to sell while they toured the United States.
